About Me...

Hi, and thanks for visiting my website.

I am Amanda, although most folk know me as Mandy.

I am a Scottish born geologist with a passion for pottery, painting, "playing" the saxophone and looking after my two cats - Stormy & Bear.  My husband and I love travelling, and spent a couple of years living in Newfoundland, before coming back to Scotland to live in the stunning North West Highlands in a beautiful place called Gairloch, in a house which we had owned for many years as our holiday house.

My influence and inspiration comes from my surroundings, nature and all creatures, great and small,

I recently completed two courses in Botanical Illustration with the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, being awarded "Distinction" in both the Certificate and Advanced Certificate, with my watercolour paintings of a Cyclamen and Strawberry, respectively, and am about to commence another course with the very talented botanical illustrator and artist Dianne Sutherland.

This year, I have added to my work, a range of botanical and fine detailed artwork prints and cards which I print myself using high quality giclee processes, using archival inks and paper. More information about my illustrations and prints can be found here.

I am also so lucky to have a purpose-built studio at the side of the house, where I can disappear to for hours on end, with stunning views out over Loch Gairloch, to the Torridon Mountains.  My studio can be visited during my "open studio" days which will be advertised, However, if you are passing by, feel free to pop in if I am around!

Keep an eye on my website for dates for my "Open Studio" and "Pop-up Shop" days.  I can also be found occasionally at Poolewe Village Hall Market on a Tuesday.

Hope to see you soon! x
